Variety critique Dennis Harvey wrote, Gregg Brown has "the ability to get people to open up emotionally" with his "rye yet earnest presence."

In 2007 he wrote, directed and starred in "Shrinks," which took the 1st place award for the best comedy short at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. In "Shrinks" Brown played "Roman Lorber," a depressed and lonely "everyman" who goes "shopping" for therapists.

In 2005 he co-wrote and starred in "The Method" playing a crazed actor who robs a diner in order to prepare for the part of a lifetime, which won the audience award for the best US short film at the Avignon/New York Film Festival and took the 1st prize at the Harvardwood Mini Film Festival, an event sponsored by Harvard College alumni working in the entertainment industry.

In 2004 Brown co-directed a documentary called "Words," which took the top prize at the San Francisco Documentary Film Festival. Brown served as the inspirational guide of the film conducting hundreds of street interviews, taking a random group of New Yorkers to participate in a Native American sweat lodge ceremony, and leading a group of people through a "support group" dealing with their personal tragedies.

From 1997 – 1999 as host/creator/executive producer his cable TV show called "Face TV! With Gregg Brown" attained a huge cult following in Manhattan. The show was regularly cited in the New York gossip columns and Brown was recognized by legions of adoring fans for his unique and spontaneous style of getting people to reveal their deepest secrets and act outrageously on the streets of Manhattan.
